LODGING

Enchanted Hills Camp is located just west of Napa about an hour and a half from Livermore. We will be staying in the upper camp near the dining hall. Each room sleeps four people with a bathroom. Bedding and towels are provided.
If you have mobility problems or special sleeping needs, please let us know so that we can assign you a cabin that best meets your needs. All other rooms will be on a first come, first served basis. Please don't plan to arrive before 3:00 pm.

revkarenthistlethwaiteRev. Karen Thistlethwaite is delighted to spend time in God’s presence, feel God’s love, and share God’s presence and love with others. Karen was ordained in 2012 and has spent 10 years in congregational ministry serving a variety of churches in the Presbytery of San Francisco, as well as guest preaching, leading retreats, and pastoral coaching. Three years ago, she began serving in mid-council leadership with the Presbytery of San Francisco, and her next call will be with the Presbytery of Nevada as their Stated Clerk/General Presbyter.
Karen is a spiritual director, a certified Interim Minister, gained dual standing with the United Church of Christ, and has trained in Mediation and Healthy Communication Skills with the Mennonite Peace Center.
Reading, singing, enjoying nature, and exploring new places are some of Karen’s favorite things to do. Together with her husband, Bryan, she delights in seeing the world through the eyes of Siena (13) and Colin (10), who are constantly showing their parents new ways to love, grow, and experience God.

Topic: A Breath of Fresh Air
Key Scripture: Psalm 150:1-6

Sometimes a breath of fresh air is all we need to let go of what is not serving us and to fill our heart, mind, and soul with God’s presence. Together, we will explore the art of breath prayers, of praying on the go, and refocus our day. We will also connect with Ignatian spirituality, using the examen to slow down and see that God is here for us in every moment. Through the examen, we will be invited to listen (to ourselves, to God, to others, and to nature) without judgment, knowing we are loved and held by God.

Together, we will reflect on our own stories in new ways and will be invited to share, laugh, listen, and hope with the women around us. In silence and calm, whether writing or drawing, there will be a little something for everyone, and a variety of ways for us to participate as we feel comfortable. Please join us as we live into scripture and “let everyone that has breath praise the Lord.”

Highlights of Breath Prayer:

  • Breathing allows movement in our bodies and in our souls, so the Holy Spirit can work in new ways.

  • When we see God’s movement in the world and in our lives, we can choose to be closer to God, each other, and creation.

  • Relieved emotional distress, improved sleep, and a lower heart rate are some of the many health benefits of intentional breathing.
